So, carrying on with the Georgian / Regency theme – the next characteristic that enchants me are the staircases. The beautiful, smooth turned circle of wood that forms the handrail, which in turn flows sinuously from top to bottom – often curved and turned to suit the flow of the stairwell. So simple, yet so elegant – I ADORE them. But please, somebody tell me – with the exception of artistically arranged leather riding boots – where does everybody keep their shoes???
