A Quick Post Christmas Review…

…And so Twelfth Night is upon us, and it is time to say goodbye to all things Christmas and festive for another twelve months…

…As I hadn’t shown our decorations on the blog leading up to the season, I thought that i’d do a quick visual summary of Christmas at Hill House 2017 – starting with the drawing room…

Coco during the ‘official’  ‘Turning On of The Lights’ Ceremony!!

I have a feeling that this room may change colour over the coming year – I’m still undecided on that one, and have been threatening to change it each January for the past seven years, so watch this space…

The drawing room decorated for Christmas 2017

One things for sure is the fact that the current deep red colour makes a magnificent backdrop during the Christmas season…

In fact it’s a lovely backdrop during the entire Winter time for all things candlelit, cosy, cocoon like and Hygge…

Lanterns always play a large part in my decorating throughout the year, but are particularly effective at Christmas time…

This year my decorations felt very traditional, in keeping with the room…

If there’s one thing that can alter the feel of a room very quickly, it’s lighting, and I thought that it was rather fun to fill one of my Constance Spry for Fulham pottery vases with lights…

This year I fell back in love with old fashioned paper honeycomb decorations, which reminded me of my childhood…

In fact I was very tempted to keep the ones adorning the family room mirrors up for the entire year…

Any excuse to decorate the entrance to our home is a good one, and I’m already looking forward to Spring wreaths, not that these beauties have been taken down!

Well there it is, a speedy review of how Hill House was decorated during the Christmas season.

Despite the sudden absence of sparkle and twinkle festooning the bannister, and smart white bows greeting me at the front door, I personally feel rather refreshed at the idea of starting anew and making plans for the coming year…

Wishing you all a very Happy New Year, and looking forward to adventures in decorating and country life in 2018!

Until Next Time…
